If you don't know about Love Birds, or perhaps don't know what they look like, you are missing out. Love Birds are THE cutest, funniest, most rambunctious, playful little creatures you'll ever see. They also are very colorful. Some have lite blue feathers with a touch of black on their faces. Others are green with black, orange and yellow feathers on their face. Although I have always preferred the lite blue, a friend surprised me for my birthday one year with two who were then three months old, and green.

Cody is my "little girl". She is the more adventurous one. That little bird has more toys than the average child and just like a little child, she plays with each and every toy every day then pushes them aside to play with something else, until she remembers them again and the playing begins all over.

Joey, my "little boy" on the other hand, is more reserved, follows her around like a puppy dog and lets her do the discovering before he will have anything to do with anything. Right now, he is taking a bath which has attracted Cody to the bath bowl, actually their water bowl. She is more interested in what he is doing rather than bathing herself but knowing her as well as I do, she will soon be wet too.

They sleep body to body, snuggle all the time, and love to feed each other. They eat seeds, peanuts in shells, fresh fruit, fresh veggies and love to gnaw on wood which is actually very expensive in pet shops. The first time I bought an all wood toy, I had no idea she would destroy the $14.99 item within a day.

The oddest thing they have ever done though is feather plucking. I came home from a business trip to discover Cody bald as an Eagle. I naturally rushed her to the Vet who told me Joey was the culprit. He evidently was distraught I wasn't there and to keep busy, plucked every single feather off her head but the ones over her eyes. He also cleaned her neck and chest feathers. Today, all these years later, Cody remains, featherless!

People should be in love as much as these two are. They are now almost 19 years old and I worry that when one of them passes away, the other will quickly follow. But in the meantime, I am loving them, enjoying them and hope I've enticed a few of you readers to get a pair for yourself or for someone you adore.
